Lions fire HC Matt Patricia, GM Bob Quinn after blowout loss on Thanksgiving

Quinn replaced Martin Mayhew as the team's general manager in January 2016 and hired Patricia, whom he worked with in New England, as head coach two years later. The duo was tasked with getting the Lions back to the playoffs, but instead brought more frustration to a franchise that hasn't made the playoffs since 2016 and hasn't won a postseason game since the 1991 season.

With Quinn and Patricia at the helm, the Lions went a measly 13-29-1, and currently are in the midst of another losing season at 4-7.

Patricia's tenure as head coach, more specifically, was marred by more than just defeat. After he was hired by Detroit, he was accused of sexually assaulting someone in 1996 as a college student. He later made enemies in the locker room for embodying the "Patriot Way" and having a pretty bad attitude toward players, including Glover Quin, who said Patricia was arrogant after he was released by the organizaiton.

Detroit did not name an interim head coach in its announcement of Patricia's firing, but NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell has assumed the position.
