If the Dallas Mavericks need to count on one player to lead them to a win, it is without a doubt superstar Luka Doncic . After losing game 1 to the Los Angeles Clippers, that is exactly who they counted on to bring the playoff series level. The Slovenian responded by drilling massive 3-pointers en route to a much-needed road win.

With the game neck and neck heading into the fourth quarter, the Mavericks had to dig deep if they were to steal a win on the road. Their leading superstar decided it was time and took over the game in the last 12 minutes of the game by scoring timely shots. In one stretch he went on a tear from the 3-point line, hitting them as if he was possessed. The last of the lot, against James Harden, helped the Mavericks take a 9-point lead. That lead helped them to get a famous road win before heading home.

The Los Angeles Clippers wanted to keep the fight going. After all, they had the all-important home-court advantage to exploit. But Luka Doncic had other ideas as he kept the pressure on the Clippers along with his teammates. All those shots helped the team to carry the momentum home.

Momentum is a dangerous weapon, as it can help or derail a team’s chances. The Dallas Mavericks are hoping that with both of the games at home, this momentum as well as their fan support will help them take a series lead. If they do, it will be difficult for the lately inconsistent Clippers to save the series.

Luka Doncic flipping momentum at the right time

Before the start of this playoff series, the Dallas Mavericks were one of the hottest teams in the NBA. Subsequently, many analysts and fans thought that they would topple the Los Angeles Clippers and move on to the next round.

However, after the first game, doubts were forming as to whether Luka Doncic and his teammates could handle playoff pressure. Despite having Kyrie Irving in the corner, not many of Doncic’s teammates have playoff experience. However, now the scoring leader and his champion teammate have led the way.

The Clippers might come back strong in game 3. But Doncic and Irving know that they can beat them fair and square. This playoff battle will be exciting as a plethora of superstars battle for supremacy.
