Veteran guard JJ Redick reportedly prefers to play for Knicks or Nets

Veteran guard JJ Redick reportedly prefers to play for either the New York Knicks or Brooklyn Nets, according to Bleacher Report's Jake Fischer.

The free agent could wait to sign with a franchise until 2022, Fischer says, "biding his time with an eye toward joining either New York or Brooklyn."

Redick currently resides in Brooklyn and has a desire to play closer to his family. Playing for either the Knicks or Nets would allow him that opportunity. 

However, it remains to be seen whether either New York franchise is interested in signing the 37-year-old. Fischer adds that multiple NBA executives have speculated that Redick might consider retiring altogether if he doesn't land with the Knicks or Nets. 

Outside of the New York-based teams, there will be plenty of interest in Redick, according to Fischer. One Western Conference head coach said he would sign Redick, adding, "He can go anywhere and provide value."

Redick recently mentioned on his "The Old Man and the Three" podcast that he will not take part in any training camps and will make a decision on his future two to three months into the start of next season. 

The Duke product averaged 7.4 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game last season for the New Orleans Pelicans and Dallas Mavericks while shooting 39.7% from the field 37.1% from deep. 

In addition to the Pelicans and Mavs, he has also played for the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks.
